Checking for dependency: libusb - USB library... The first good news was when you mention sth about uninstalling gutenprint Uninstalling this, made it possible, at least, to set up the printer alone via the systems settings. I suppose that this might be a matter of adding my username to the printer group or something like that (I can’t remember how I did this back in Ubuntu). The equivalent of "letter" is A4 but the sizes vary a bit. (US letter) 216 279 compared to (ISO 216 A4) 210 297. OK, found. Regardless of that I decided to finish installing the up-to-date HPLIP and try if the standard hp installation process would work.

hp-check shows no error. Yes I believe I have cups installed. OK, found. I’ll do my best.

The test page is designed for(/by) North American people and uses the "letter" size. http://netfiscal.com/error-unable/error-unable-to-find-rpm-tool.html but unfortunately I found nowhere to download the mentioned depot files. Please try the request again. There is a file /usr/bin/hp-toolbox in place.

I do hate to be a quitter but something is really wierd here. thanks in advance -- Chico Can you help with this problem? P.P.S. http://netfiscal.com/error-unable/error-unable-to-find-some.html See COPYING file for more details.

I do appreciate it. Checking for dependency: SANE - Scanning library... I’ve spent a lot of time with Uncle Google, these last few days, but I am stubbornly going to stick with Antergos, until we get back to calmer waters.

But, at least until this last 7 - 10 days, Antergos has worked very well for me, without my needing to know how every line of code works.

Checking for dependency: ppdev - Parallel port support kernel module.... This is my first experience with Antergos and I’d like to stick with it, but I need to get my printer working. Now the printer works and is found by cups and hp-tools. I do not have python2-pyqt4 installed, but (and again, I might be over my head, here) I think that might be down to my using the Cinnamon desktop.

note: To check for run-time only dependencies, re-run hp-check with the -r parameter (ie, hp-check -r). Indeed, installing python-pyqt4 got this GUI to display! @George-Pantelis: Thanks also for those links to resolve issue “(e) ‘kvm: disabled by bios’, according to startup script””.
