what is it? The execute permission on a directory controls whether a process can chdir/chroot into that directory.Your /home and /home/number directories have the execute bit on for everyone; your /var/www/ and /var/www/html/ directories However if I take out the DefaultRoot entry the user is able to log in and is put into their home directory.
