This would kind of explain the fact that it stopped working the day after I reinstalled it from SP1. B.

This solved my problems. Doesn't sound like a Windows update sounds like SP1/2 has been applied to your machine or the server (not normally in windows updates). I wish I could just disable the help links, but that probably wouldn't fix it.
Clearly my backup server has a lesser version of EMC but can't seem to find an upgrade to this version in order to conenct to the DAG and successfully backup 4 All rights reserved. Thumbs up! Initialization Failed.

Once the times are set, you might have to disable then re-enable the time sync in VMtools and all should be fine again.
