I finally copied the ~/.dnx/packages/Microsoft.AspNet.Server.Kestrel/1.0.0-rc1-final/runtimes/osx/native/libuv.dylib to ~/.dnx/packages/Microsoft.AspNet.Server.Kestrel/1.0.0-rc1-final/lib/dnxcore50/libuv.dylib Then dnx web ran without a hitch. While it's possible it's not really supported. E.g you published x64 version, but you set your current dnvm environment with x86.

I do think that this has nothing to do with VS 2010. It's the Visual C++ Redistributable x86 version and not the x64 that fixes everything!!
